The University of Arkansas Athletics Department will be getting hands on once again this year taking part in local Martin Luther King festivities.

The department will kick things off Monday as Razorback student-athletes will be on hand at 9:30 a.m., to play games with local youth who are also members of the NWA Dream Keepers in the HPER gym following an awards breakfast.

Members of the athletic department will also take place in a march that will begin later that day at 11:15 at the Walton Arts Center and end at the Arkansas Union. Following the march a vigil will be held in the Verizon Ballroom inside the union.

A total of eight Razorback student-athletes and eight Razorback coaches will be on hand in the evening to attend the 17th Annual Recommitment Banquet at the Fayetteville Town Center at 7 p.m., where the athletic department sponsored two tables.

The banquet features speakers Pastor Marcus Carruthers of Dwelling Place, Sharron Orlopp, the global chief diversity officer at Walmart and Carolyn H. Allen, the dean of the University of Arkansas libraries.

Anyone wishing to attend the banquet can do so by purchasing a ticket at nwamlk.org. Tickets are priced at $25 for adults and $15 for students.
