FAYETTEVILLE. - The No. 51 University of Arkansas men's tennis team dropped a hard fought match to No. 17 Tulsa on Friday evening at the Dills Indoor Tennis Facility. Arkansas drops to 8-3 while Tulsa moves to 5-4 on the season.

"This was the first match of the year that we won the doubles point and lost the match," head coach Robert Cox said. "We felt pretty good after doubles; good energy. Tulsa just really came out in singles and took it to us, winning all six first set."

In front of a large enthusiastic crowd, the Razorbacks came out strong and took the doubles point with solid play from all three doubles teams. Hell Fess and Santiago Munoz got the Hogs going taking the first match 8-5. Manfred Jeske and Mike Nott clinched the doubles point with a tiebreak victory over Grant Ive and Tristen Jackson. Gregoire Lehmann and Mike Ward were also in a tie break on court two when the match was clinched.

The Golden Hurricane responded in singles winning in two sets on courts three, four and six giving them the 3-1 lead.

After dropping the first set, Lehmann came back to take the second set 6-3 to force a third against No. 101 Clifford Marsland, but could not pull off the win in the third dropping the set.

Nott also took Tristen Jackson to three-sets, but could not close out the match dropping the third set 6-3.

Jeske dropped a tight two-set match to No. 54 Japie DeKlark.

Arkansas will take the courts again Sunday for a doubleheader against UMKC and Oral Roberts. First match is set to begin at 11 a.m.

"We have to bounce back on Sunday," Coach Cox said. "We need to come in here and take care of business which will help build our confidence back up.
