HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Freshman Gabriela Lopez and junior Emma Lavy continued to play well leading the eighth-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team into fourth place after second round action at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C., Saturday.

Lopez and Lavy are tied for seventh overall while two-time All-American junior Emily Tubert carded the Razorbacks’ best round of the day with a 70 to move into a tie for 11th and help the Razorbacks to a 298 Saturday and a 591 for the tournament.

“We didn’t quite have our best stuff today,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said.  “Despite that, it was a great, solid round by Emily today.  It was great to see her back and she did a lot of great stuff today.  She is a big part of our success and to see her do that is awesome.

“Gaby hung in there strong today and birdied two of her last three holes coming in,” Estes-Taylor continued.  “We have to come out tomorrow and take care of business.  This team is so talented and fun and every time we get in this position we have to use it as fuel for our fire.  We have to come out and give it our best effort.”

Lopez is in the clubhouse with a 145 with rounds of 71-74.  She turned at plus-four in the first nine holes and played the back nine one-under to finish with her 74.

She is tied with teammate Lavy who was the round one leader with an opening day 68.  Lavy paired that with a 77 today for the 145.

Tubert moved up several spots after a first round 76 and is tied for 11th with 146.  She opened with a bogey on the first hole but birdied six, seven and nine to turn two under.  She gave one back on the second nine but was solid with four consecutive pars to close out her day.

Freshman Regina Plasencia is tied for 50th overall shooting 78-77 for 155 and senior Victoria Vela is tied for 56th with rounds of 77-80 for 157.

Eleventh-ranked Vanderbilt moved to the top of the leaderboard with a two-under 296 Saturday for a 578, 13 strokes better than Arkansas.  LSU jumped to the No. 2 spot with a 581 followed by No. 4 Alabama in third with 585.  The eighth-ranked Razorbacks are in fourth with a two-day 591 followed by No. 3 North Carolina and No. 17 Arizona State tied for fifth with 594.  The rest of the field includes No. 29 Tennessee with 598, No. 42 UCF with 600, No. 19 Virginia with 604, No. 14 Georgia with 607, TCU with 616, No. 46 South Carolina and Furman with 619, No. 44 Wake Forest with 624 and No. 37 Auburn with 631.
