HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The fourth-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team returns to the links this weekend at the Darius Rucker Intercollege in Hilton Head Island,S.C.

The Razorbacks, coming off a tournament team title in Puerto Rico in the spring opener, are taking part for the third time in the three-year history of the event.  Arkansas tied for 11th in the inaugural season and tied for fifth last year.

“We are excited to be heading back to the Darius Rucker event in South Carolina,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said.  “This is an outstanding event and has been a staple on our schedule.  It is always fur for Mike and I to head back home to compete. This is a great championship golf course and a National Championship field.  The team has been training hard these past 10 days and we are looking forward to testing our games this week.”

Another top-flight field awaits Arkansas at the Long Cove Club, a par 71, 6,142-yard course.  In addition to the fourth-ranked Razorbacks the field includes NO. 3 Duke, No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 6 Arizona State, No. 7 Stanford, No. 8 Alabama, No. 13 South Carolina, No. 14 Vanderbilt, No. 21 LSU, No. 23 Wake Forest, No. 24 Kentucky all inside the top 25.  The rest of the field includes No. 27 Auburn, No, 91 Furman, No. 47 Georgia, No. 28 North Carolina, and No. 29 Virginia.

Arkansas enters tournament play with a strong lineup headlined by a pair of seniors in Emma Lavy and Emily Tubert.  Sophomore standouts Regina Plasencia and Gabriela Lopez along with freshman Summar Roachell round out the traveling five giving Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor many weapons, all of whom can go low.

As a team, Arkansas has five top six finishes in five events including two tournament titles.  Tubert, a Burbank, Calif., native, picked up medalist honors in a win at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate in the fall and was Arkansas’ top finisher at the Alamo Invitational.  Plasencia went low with a fifth-place finish at the Dale McNamera Fall Preview and Lopez led the team at the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational and most recently at the Lady Puerto Rico where the Razorbacks had three players inside the top four in the field.
