FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The fourth-ranked University of Arkansas women’s golf team takes part in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic April 4-6, in Athens, Ga.

The event is the final regular season event for the Razorbacks who next travel to the Southeastern Conference Championship in Birmingham, Ala., April 18-20.

This year, the event features a format change in an attempt to mirror next year’s change in the NCAA format for the national championship.

At the Liz, teams will play stroke play on Friday.  Those results will determine the seeding for the match play brackets.  The top eight teams are in the red bracket and the bottom eight are in the black bracket.

“As the Liz Murphey approaches, I get a real sense of excitement because the best part of the year is right around the corner,” Arkansas head coach Shauna Estes-Taylor said.  “This is the last regular season event of the year and a place our team loves to compete.  The University of Georgia is a great championship golf course that demands precision and your full attention.  We are also excited to try-out our future NCAA Championship format as we introduce match-play to our team for the first time in college.  We have been preparing this past week for the match-play mind-set and our team has been responding well. We are prepared and looking forward to ending our regular season on a high note. We want to create momentum heading into SECs.”

Arkansas’ lineup has been solid all season.  Anchored by senior Emily Tubert and sophomore Gabriela Lopez, the Razorbacks tied the program record with three tournament titles this season.  Tubert and Lopez each have an individual title as well.

Also traveling is senior Emma Lavy, sophomore Reginia Plasencia and freshman Summar Roachell, all of whom have also made every trip this season.

Format changes and a great golf course are not the only things the Razorbacks will battle this weekend.  Bad weather is expected and tee times have already been changed for Friday’s start.  Fans who want to follow live stats can do so by going to birdiefire.com.
