Diamond Hog Complete Sweep of Auburn, 11-2

      FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 15 Arkansas scored early and often to complete the series sweep of Auburn on Saturday with an 11-2 win in front of 8,107 fans at Baum Stadium.

      The Razorbacks won their sixth-straight game at Baum Stadium and finished the regular season with a 38-17 overall record and an 18-12 mark in the SEC. The Hogs finished second in the SEC West and tied Georgia for third overall in the SEC. Arkansas will be the No. 4 seed in the SEC Tournament and will play either Ole Miss or Vanderbilt at 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, in Hoover, Ala.

      Jake Dugger went 2 for 3 at the plate with a career-high five RBI. Craig Gentry led the Hogs’ 12-hit attack with a 3-for-5 day at the plate, a RBI and one run scored.

      Arkansas finished the season with record breaking attendance numbers, drawing a school-record 5,579 fans in actual attendance at Baum Stadium this season. The Hogs also set a school record for tickets sold, averaging 7,174 per game.

      Shaun Seibert improved to 4-0 on the year, working five innings and allowing just one run on five hits. He tied his career high with seven strikeouts and walked two. The Hogs used five pitchers on the afternoon with Josh Smith, Chris Rhoads, Trey Holloway and James Gilbert all working one inning.

      Chris Dennis took the loss for Auburn, falling to 3-7 on the season. He allowed seven runs – six earned – on seven hits over four innings. He walked three and struck out two.

      The Razorbacks took the lead in the bottom of the second when Walker connected for his third home run of the weekend. He lined the first pitch he saw from Chris Dennis off the scoreboard in right-center field to give UA a 2-1 lead.

      Danny Hamblin and David Hum hit back-to-back home runs with two outs in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead. It was Hamblin’s 16^th home run of the season and Hum’s fourth of the season. It was the third time this season Arkansas has hit back-to-back home runs and Hum has been involved on all three occasions.

      The Hogs busted the game open in the fourth inning on Dugger’s bases-clearing double that extended the lead to 7-1.

      Arkansas tacked on three more runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a RBI singles from Craig Gentry to give UA a 10-1 lead. Auburn picked up a run in the sixth on a RBI double by Ryan Jenkins. The run came off Smith, who was making his first appearance of the year after back surgery earlier this season. Smith allowed two hits and recorded strikeouts for all three outs in his one inning of work.

      Dugger delivered his second hit of the day in the seventh to score Matt Willard, who led off the inning with a double down the left-field line.

      Auburn took the early lead on Tyler Johnstone’s RBI single down the third-base line with two outs in the second inning.

      The Tigers finish the season with a 22-34 overall record and a 9-21 record in SEC play.
