OUTLOOK: Aguirre was listed as the backup to senior Mitch Petrus at left guard entering spring drills. He’s still the backup to Petrus, but they are at right guard entering the season. A two-game starter as a junior, Aguirre will figure into the rotation.

2008: He lettered after making two starts and seeing action with the offense in three games his junior season. He started at weak tackle against Florida and Tulsa, and also earned snaps against Texas. He ended the season listed second behind both Wade Grayson at weak guard and Ray Dominguez at weak tackle. In his start against Tulsa, he helped protect quarterback Casey Dick, who threw for 385 yards, the second-best total in school history. He helped Michael Smith become the ninth 1,000-yard rusher in school history, finish the year second in the SEC and No. 22 in the nation with 207 carries for 1,072 yards and eight touchdowns. He also helped protect Dick, who completed 205 passes, and threw for 2,586 yards and 13 touchdowns. The completion total is a school record, the yardage total ranks second and the TDs tie for eighth. Arkansas’ 3,115 yards passing is a school record and the 4,477 yards of total offense ranks ninth.

2007: He lettered after earning snaps in five games as a sophomore. He saw action against Troy, North Texas, Chattanooga, Ole Miss and Florida International. Aguirre earned a pass blocking grade of 87.5 percent for the season. – He played five snaps against Troy, a season-high 22 against UNT, eight against Chattanooga, 10 against Ole Miss and eight against FIU. He had a perfect grade of 100 percent on both running and passing plays against FIU. In his 10 snaps against the Rebels, he had an average grade of 90 percent, earning 100 on passing plays and 88 on running plays. He also graded out at 100 percent on passing plays against UNT and had one knockdown block.

2006: He lettered after playing five games in his redshirt freshman season. He saw action against Southeast Missouri State, Ole Miss, Louisiana-Monroe, Mississippi State and LSU. He averaged a grade of 82.3 percent, including a pass blocking grade of 93.7 percent, while racking up six knockdown blocks in his limited play. - He logged a season-high 37 snaps on the offensive front against Southeast Missouri State. He garnered an 89-percent grade, including a 92-percent clip in run blocking and an 81-percent grade in pass blocking. He also earned three knockdown blocks. Against Ole Miss, he played eight snaps tallying one knockdown block. He posted a perfect 100-percent pass blocking grade against the Rebels. He carded a grade of 83 percent in the Razorbacks’ non-conference win over Louisiana-Monroe. He posted a 100-percent grade in pass blocking while garnering one knockdown block. He tallied one knockdown block in the Hogs’ division-clinching win at Mississippi State. He also played in Arkansas’ regular-season finale against LSU.
2005: He worked with the scout team offense during his redshirt season.

HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: He was a standout on the offensive front for Coach Billy Hobbs at Cypress Bay. He was named to the Florida-Georgia All-Star Game. He was selected to participate in the Broward County All-Star Game and the Broward County-Dade County All-Star Game. Rivals rated him as the No. 63 offensive tackle in the nation. He was also ranked in the top 100 players in Florida by the same organization. He was also recruited by Florida International, Southern Illinois and Akron.

PERSONAL: Born May 8, 1987, he is the son of Angelica Aguirre. He is majoring in history and political science. He was named to the Lon Farrell Academic Honor Roll in Spring 2008, Spring 2007 and Fall 2005. He was also named a Hard Working Hog for the 2005-06 academic year. His last name is pronounced A-gear-ee.
