Richardson, Texas
(Pearce HS)
OUTLOOK: A strong finish in spring practice and the exodus of three starting linemen from last year’s team will give Tucker a chance to earn snaps at offensive guard in 2007. UA coaches lauded his work and aggressiveness in the second half of spring drills. He will need to continue to make strides to dent the rotation at left guard. Heading into pre-season camp, Tucker is listed behind Mitch Petrus and Michael Aguirre at left guard.
2006: With a veteran offensive line taking most of the snaps, Tucker didn’t see game action as a redshirt freshman.
2005: He worked with the UA scout team offense during his redshirt campaign.
HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: He helped guide his team to an 8-2 record in his senior season under Coach Bobby Reyes. In his junior campaign, he helped lead his team to an 8-4 record and a district co-championship. Rivals.com rated him as the No. 18 offensive guard in the nation. The same organization had him ranked as the No. 41 prospect in Texas and the No. 5 offensive lineman in the state. He was a high school teammate of UA defensive back Matt Harris at Pearce HS. His father, Rick, is a former Arkansas deep snapper who played under Lou Holtz. He was also recruited by LSU, UCLA, Alabama, SMU, Missouri, North Carolina and Ole Miss.
PERSONAL: Born Oct. 8, 1986, he is the son of Rick and Melissa Tucker. He is enrolled in the Sam M. Walton College of Business and is majoring in finance and banking. A member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll for 2006-07, he was also named to the Lon Farrell Academic Honor Roll for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 academic years.
