QB, 6-2, 203
JR-SQ
Springdale, Ark.
(Shiloh Christian / Missouri Southern)
OUTLOOK: With only one scholarship quarterback on the roster in the spring, Emert saw plenty of snaps with the Razorback regulars and top reserves. He made the most of his opportunities throwing for three touchdowns in two spring scrimmages including two scoring tosses in the spring game. He worked with the scout team last year after transferring from Missouri Southern where he set 18 school records in just one season. He makes solid decisions and knows where to deliver the football. He will likely battle incoming freshmen Joe Chaisson and Nathan Dick for the backup role behind starting quarterback Casey Dick.
2006: He used the 2006 campaign as a redshirt season after transferring from Missouri Southern. He wasn’t eligible to play per transfer requirements, but gained some valuable repetitions on the UA scout team offense.
AT MISSOURI SOUTHERN (2005): He broke 18 school passing records and two Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) conference records as a freshman. Among others, he set the records for pass completions (302) and total offensive plays (596). He also led the Lions to a four-game improvement on their record from the previous season. He was named the MIAA freshman of the year, most valuable offensive back and team MVP.
HIGH SCHOOL CAREER: He lettered as a quarterback under Coach Chris Wood at Shiloh Christian High School. He also played strong safety, cornerback and linebacker. He was named first-team all-conference and all-state. He was a member of the National Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Born Jan. 26, 1986, he is the son of Chris and Cathy Emert. He was married to Shannon Lee, the daughter of UA quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator David Lee, in the summer of 2007. He is enrolled in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences and is majoring in communications.
