The goals by Chennaiyin FC were scored in the 15th and 26th minute of the match. Chennaiyin FC has managed to get four points from the three games it has played. On the other hand finalists of last year’s ISL, F.C Goa has lost three games in a row. This win over Goa pushed Chennaiyin FC to the fifth position in the eight-team table. FC Goa with its recent dismal form is at the bottom of the table.

Interestingly, the manager of Chennaiyin FC warned his players that if they don’t perform well and reach at least the semi-finals of this season’s ISL them he won’t coach them for the next season.

The deadlock in the recently played match between FC Goa and Chennaiyin FC broke when Mulder was able to collect a ball from Raphael Augusto which was just outside the box.  Mulder displayed his determination and placed the ball into the goal post evading the diving Goa goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani. Mulder did this so quickly that the defenders could hardly react.

Chennaiyin FC came to a dominant position with 2-0 in the 26th minute of the match. The captain of the team was trying his best to cross the ball into the goalpost. As chance would have it the ball deflected off the Goa defender Richard Dumas to beat the Goan goalkeeper Kattimani again.

It’s not that FC Goa did not have their share of chances in their match against Chennaiyin FC. However, they could not show the sharpness that was required to clinch the match. Rafael Coelho the player from FC Goa was expected to score a goal in the first 45 minutes.

Zico who is the chief coach of FC Goa tried to bring the momentum in the favour of his team in the second session. He did so by making some attacking changes. It did not work however as Chennaiyin FC were too good for them.

The margin of victory for Chennaiyin FC could have been much higher if its strikers had kept their calm. Davide Succi of Chennaiyin FC got a golden chance to take his team to a 3-0 lead when a long overhead ball of Mulder brought him within a striking distance of the goal post. However, the goalkeeper Kattimani foiled his attempt.
