Yusa Katsumi and Alfaro both of whom made a brilliant move in the midfield resulted in Eduardo losing out on the fight for the ball. But Alfaro was not fast enough to capitalise on this. A while later the duo of Rowlin Borges and Yusa Katsumi set up Nicolas Velez. However, this brilliant move was negated by the Argentine who back passed the ball to Romaric.

Things turned in favour of the hosts when Nirmal Chettri from North East United FC was asked to leave the field for a rash challenge on a host team player Anibal Rodriguez.

The break saw both the teams without any goals. After the break, the NEUFC team kept up the pressure and put the hosts in the back seat.

The fortunes of FC Pune City suffered a severe blow when Eduardo was slapped with yet another yellow card for an aerial tackle on Romaric. NEUFC has finally received its reward for their hard work and they clinched the match to reach the top spot.
