Last year saw Satnam Singh getting selected by Dallas Maveriks. Satnam currently plays for Dallas Mavericks D-League team Texas Legends. After Amjyot’s entry into a D-League draft his manager Vishnu Ravi Shankar expressed happiness and said that NBA is a dream for every basketball player and he hopes that Amjyot’s dream of making it the NBA comes true. He said that Amjyot’s entry into the D-League draft brings him a step closer to achieving his dream of getting entry into NBA. He said that officials of NBA had contacted them and expressed interest on Amjyot.

One of the key reasons which enabled Amjyot to attract the attention of the NBA was his top level performances in Asia. NBA had invited Amjyot in the last week of September immediately after the FIBA Asia Cup. Amjyot was a part of the Indian contingent which defeated one of the strongest teams in Asia—China.

Amjyot’s manager said that his previous good performances did have a huge bearing on him being invited by the NBA to join a D-League draft. He said that NBA was impressed with his previous performance and they asked them to submit his name. He said that rarely does such a thing happen for an Indian player.

In an interview, Amjyot said that he started playing basketball after having played five other games. Once he understood this game and its popularity in India he decided to become a professional Indian basketball player. He made a vow to always move ahead and never stop in his career. Expressing his pleasure in getting selected for the D-League draft he said that he is just one step closer to getting into NBA and if he is selected into the NBA he will make full use of this chance.
