Lakshya Sen is the third badminton player to have topped the list of the BWF world junior rankings. The guy from Bengaluru has made it to the apex position at a young age of 15. The others who have been in the top of the list were Aditya Joshi and Siril Verma, who have held the spot in 2014 and 2016 respectively. However, Prakash Padukone, Lakshya’s mentor has asked him to keep his focus on the game and off the ranking.
Lakshya Sen All Set To Focus On International Events
According to the sources, Padukone is not at all surprised by the ranking of the young boy and feels that this was invincible. He, however, feels that this came a bit earlier than expected. The well-known Indian shuttle star said that Sen must take his time and focus on the game and try to improve his world level ranking. Padukone feels that Sen can easily take two or three odd years to reach make his mark in the International ranking. He also feels that Lakshya definitely has the potential that is needed.
Padukone has also advised him to try playing in the international tournaments, rather than maintaining the ranking in the junior level. The Indian famous shuttler has been training Sen from the age of 10. The talent that Sen had in him, was noted at a very early stage by the shuttler. Talking about Lakshya, the ace shuttler said that Lakhshya is a gifted player and can grasp the game easily. Prakash had noted some very special qualities in the young kid right from the beginning.
Talking about the future of the talented kid, Prakash Padukone said that he feels that the selection of the tournaments that Sen does, will have a great impact on the future that he would have. Talking about the development plan that Prakash is having, he said that Lakshya would now compete only in the World and Asian championship in the junior levels and concentrate more on the senior tournaments.
