With the Kabaddi World cup round the corner, all Indian Kabaddi fans are waiting for their team to win the cup for India for the third time.

Rahul Chaudhari, who is skipper of the Telegu Titans team, in an interview with the Indian Express said that Team India is all ready to defend the title and also be hosts for the games. He considered the Indian captain Anup Kumar as “captain cool”. Expressing his admiration for Kumar, Chaudhari said that Anup is a great captain. Chaudhari considers Anup to be a very gifted player with tremendous talent and composure. The current Indian squad is a healthy mix of experience and young talent. Rahul firmly believes that with the talent and experience which the current Indian team has, it will certainly be able to lift the World Cup for the country. In Rahul’s opinion, the advent of PKL has raised the level of the game and has made it more competitive. It has led to the rise in talent for other countries like South Korea and Iran.

Chaudhari is confident that the current team will make India proud by winning this year’s Kabaddi World Cup. According to him the way South Korea and Iran play, would also generate a lot of interest among fans of the game. He feels that scoring through raids will be a dominant factor in determining the outcome of the matches.

The selection panel has a task of selecting the seven players for Indian’s opening game against South Korea. Making a choice does seem to be difficult for the panel with experienced players like Rahul Chaudhari, Pardeep Narwal, Ajay Thakur and experienced player Jasvir Singh all waiting to play.

Rahul Chaudhari believes that selecting the playing seven is essentially a job of the coach and the caption and feels that they will do a good job. After the seven is selected the skipper and coach will inform accordingly. Speaking about himself, Chaudhuri said that if he is selected in the playing seven he is ready to give the best for the team. For him, the Team is the ultimate winner at the end regardless of who plays or not.

The star raider also felt that the home conditions will add to the advantage of the Indian team. He said that a supporting crowd will give a lot of confidence to the home team. As against that the visiting teams will have a tough time dealing with the supporting crowds and this will give an edge to the hosts and will enable them to play to the best of their abilities.

This year’s Kabaddi World Cup will kick off on October 7 in Ahmadabad. The Indian Team which has dominated this game since the 1990s has won seven gold medals in Asian Games and lifted the World cup for the country in 2004 and 2007.
