Sachin stated that the West Indies team of the early years and then the Australian team, they both had nine world-class players in their team and two terrific players. Even if three or four of them played well, the team, according to Sachin would have won the matches. He said that at present, no such team is of the same magnitude and he feels that is possibly the reason that is hurting the fate of cricket across the world.

Citing examples, where a single brilliant innings of a batsman or a terrific bowling spell of a bowler have engaged the crowd, Sachin stated that there must be a brilliant contest between the batsman as well as the bowler. One such instance that the Indian legend did point out, was the contest between Wahab Riaz and Australian veteran cricketer, Shane Watson. The Pakistani pacer had troubled the batsman with his bouncers, in the quarterfinal contest of the 2015 World Cup. However, Australia had won the match by 6 wickets.

Another occasion, that Sachin stated, was Gavaskar’s terrific innings in 1987 against Pakistan. Gavaskar had played a great knock of 96 runs and he had scored the runs on a difficult surface. However, India couldn’t win the match, but the innings that Gavaskar had played in the match was worth watching.
