Ravichandran Ashwin who has been playing extremely well for India said that he doesn’t want to pressurise himself by thinking about getting to 300 wickets in the remaining 10 matches on the home turf this season. This right arm off-break bowler said that currently, he is not staring at any numbers and neither is he interested in chasing any targets. According to Ashwin too much pondering about future can harm one’s current prospects. Therefore, he is not “looking too far ahead”.

Ashwin recently became the first bowler in the world to claim 220 wickets in the first 39 games of his career. Ashwin accepted the fact that at present, he is going through an excellent form.

According to Ashwin since last year he has been bowling well. He felt that his rhythm and his action was falling into place. Ashwin said that he has been deeply analysing his game and trying to understand the merits and demerits points pertaining to his game. His deep introspection made him realise that rhythm is very important in bowling. He felt that at times it becomes difficult to get into a rhythm and it takes a bit of time. Ashwin said that in the recent Test series against the Kiwis he was in a nice rhythm and it got better as he bowled more.

Kumar Sangakkara, AB de Villiers and Kane Williamson have found Ashwin to be very threatening in the sub-continental conditions. When Ashwin was asked about them he said that he is really lucky to have claimed the wickets of these players. According to him, he was ahead of these players in all the games played and this fact pleases him. He said that he expects to face a lot of good players in the coming few months. He expected those encounters to be very interesting and hoped that he would start off on a “good note”.

Talking about the upcoming series against England at home,  Ashwin said that the English team is a very good side and it was not going to be easy to bowl against such a side. However, he assured that he would do his homework well and would stick to good line and length and also get his rhythm going. Ashwin considered this as one of the most important things he was going to focus on in the upcoming series.
