Young Footballer Ishan Pandita Becomes The First Indian To Sign For A La Liga Club

Baichung Bhutia Indian football ace has showered praise on the Indian footballer Ishan Pandita. Bhutia praised Pandita for being the first Indian footballer to earn a professional contract from a La Liga Club, CD Leganés. This Bengaluru lad has signed a one-year deal with CD Leganés. The former Indian captain commenting on the recent success of Pandita said that although he had never seen him play as he has never played in India. He congratulated this footballer from Bengaluru for his great achievement. According to Bhutia securing a deal with a La Liga team is no ordinary accomplishment.

The former Indian captain commenting on the recent success of Pandita said that although he had never seen him play as he has never played in India he congratulated this footballer from Bengaluru for his great achievement. According to Bhutia securing a deal with a La Liga team is no ordinary accomplishment. CD Leganés F.C which is located in the outskirts of the Spanish city of Madrid has recently got promoted to Spain’s top division football this season. Leganes is currently ranked 11th in the league table. Ishan Pandita, due to his limited exposure and young age, has been asked to join the first side and will pay for the junior side -- Leganes B. This new entrant to the Leganes B has been given the No. 50 jersey. Leganes B features in Tercera Division which is Spain’s fourth division. Baichung Bhutia, who also happens to be the India Football Federation's (AIFF) advisor, said that he would like the coach of the Indian football team Coach Stephen Constantine to “ have a look” at the young footballer from Bengaluru. Baichung feels that players with international experience will be an asset for the home team. He feels that Ishan Pandita can be a good choice for the India U-20 team in the future. It has been a long standing demand of the AIFF to host the U-20 World Cup in India. AIFF president Praful Patel also asked for FIFA president Gianni Infantino's intervention and assistance in this matter while he was in Goa to unveil U-17 World Cup's logo. The AIFF president in a tweet on Wednesday congratulated Pandita for his recent achievement. He considered Pandita’s achievement as a landmark achievement at this tender age and also highlighted the fact that Pandita is the first Indian to sign for a La Liga club. Senior Vice president of AIFF said that Pandita achievement will inspire Indian clubs to produce more such players who can play for Europe.
